Despite another team being sandwiched inbetween top side Gnowangerup (10/1) and third-placed Newdegate (8/3), a likely Ongerup Football Association grand final rehearsal will be played at Gnowangerup this Saturday, August 1, in the Round 12 game-of-the-day. The home team’s sole loss in 2015 occurred against Newdegate during the second series. Spot two on the OFA ladder currently belongs to Jerramungup (9/2), the reigning premier and winner of six of the past seven flags. There is no doubt that, in the mind of most people involved in the Association, the crown will be won by any one of the three top sides. And those not attached to Jerry Eagles, will probably be hoping for a Gnowangerup versus Newdegate grand final. The Bulldogs won its only OFA title in 1996 (by one point against Borden) and Newdegate, winner of four OFA premierships, has the longest current title drought – spanning back to 1991. Newdegate has beaten Jerramungup only once, by four points in last season’s second semi-final, over the past decade and seem to match up better against Gnowangerup. The question of which team of the latter two will go into the forthcoming finals with a 2/1 ratio over its opponent will be answered on Saturday…it promises to be a close encounter. Gnowangerup won Round 2 this season by 13 points and the Lions Round 7 by 21 points. Listen in from 2pm via ‘My Retro Media’ or Radio Great Southern 1422am this Saturday.
Fifth-placed Boxwood Hill Bombers (3/7) hosts top side Gnowangerup Bulldogs (9/1) in this Saturday’s ‘My Retro Media’ broadcast game of the Ongerup Football Association from 2pm. The round signifies the start of the third and last qualifying Series for the Association this season.
My Retro Media’s live broadcast this Saturday, July 18, will be the ‘Battle-of-the-Bombers’ in Round 10 of the Ongerup Football Association Naidoc Round when Boxwood Hill Bombers (4th 3/6) host Lake Grace / Pingrup Bombers (5th 2/7) for outright fourth spot on the ladder. Boxwood won by 24pts in the first series. Co-commentator Tim Green and myself will call the action from 2pm. In the other OFA games, Newdegate Lions (2nd 7/2) faces Jerramungup Eagles (3rd 7/2) at home and the two clubs at either end of the ladder, Gnowangerup Bulldogs (top 8/1) and winless Borden Magpies, play each other at the former’s home ground.
Tim Green and myself, Gary Bartholomeusz, will call each Ongerup Football Association match at the Landmark Country Football Championships in Perth and, as a special treat, a guest caller from both the opposing leagues has been invited the join us. The Hills and Onshore Cup associations have withdrawn from the championships in recent days, leaving just three leagues – Central Wheatbelt, North Midlands and the OFA. The three will play each other twice in a round-robin format to determine the 2015 Division 3 titleholder. Following are the four broadcast times…
